"Exchange2010-SP1-X64.exe is not a valid Win32 application."
I am working with a 64-bit VMware ESX4.1 VM; Although I am installing on a 64-bit VM, this is the error message that pops up when I attempt to run the install file for Exchange 2010. I have read many of your posts; it seems that Exchange 2010
IS supported on VMware ESX 4.1 VMs. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I could be doing wrong here? I'm thanking you in advance for helping me to get out of a "situation". Deborah

You guest OS is 64-bit? If so, I would try re-downloading the application. Could be a corrupt download.Tim Harrington | MVP: Exchange | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010, MCITP: Lync 2010, MCITP: Server 2008, MCTS: OCS | Blog:

Hi Dehorah,
“Exchange2010-SP1-X64.exe is not a valid Win32 application” is result of trying to install
a 64-bit version of Exchange 2010 SP1 on a 32 bit operating system.
For this issue, I suggest you check whether the OS is 64 bit.
Thanks,
Evan Liu

I agree. Try to re-download it. The first time I downloaded it, the file size was only about 250MB and should be a little over 500MB. Once I got the entire file, it ran flawlessly. This was a server 2008 R2 VM so it definitely works on a VM.
